Our
Priority Populations
In collaboration with its donors and partners, the child welfare NGO is committed to helping the children and young people involved access the resources they need to thrive.
Families in precarious situations
As many as 828 million people will go to bed hungry tonight, and a further 2 billion don't know where their next meal will come from.
Being hungry impacts everything in these people's lives. When they cannot cover this basic need, families struggle to find a way out of poverty. It is more difficult to take advantage of economic opportunities or get involved in community actions. Hungry children don't do as well in school - if they can go at all. Babies who don't receive the right nutrition early in life may never reach their full potential as adults.
Disadvantaged or vulnerable children
Pibélé-Gnon is committed to protecting children from violence, exploitation and abuse. We work closely with governments, partner organizations and communities to prevent all forms of violence against children.
More than a billion children experience some form of emotional, physical or sexual abuse each year. This happens in all countries and in places where children should feel safe, like their home or school.
Children living in areas affected by conflict, natural disasters and other emergencies are particularly vulnerable. They may be forced to flee their homes, separate from their families or be recruited to fight by armed forces. Girls are at even higher risk of gender-based violence in these situations.
Our
solutions
Community Outreach
Our community outreach programs aim to inform and educate families and communities about children's rights and positive parenting practices. By working directly with community members, we can encourage positive changes in attitudes and behaviors towards children, strengthen family and community support systems, and promote safer and more supportive environments for their development.
Water and sanitation access programs
Access to clean water and adequate sanitation is essential to combating hunger and malnutrition. Our programs aim to improve access to clean drinking water and safe sanitation in the communities we serve. By ensuring better hygiene and facilitating food production through irrigation and other sustainable agricultural practices, we help reduce hunger and improve food security for children and families. By investing in access to water and sanitation, we are investing in a future where hunger is no longer a barrier for vulnerable children and communities.
Food Safety Programs
Our food security programs aim to ensure that every child and family has access to adequate, nutritious food. By working in collaboration with local communities, we develop sustainable solutions to fight hunger and malnutrition. This includes the distribution of essential food supplies, support for local agriculture to improve food production, nutrition education programs to promote healthy eating habits, and capacity building of families to ensure long-term food security . Together, we can end hunger and ensure that every child has the chance to grow up healthy and well-nourished.
Strengthening child protection systems
By strengthening child protection systems, we aim to ensure that all children have access to effective protection mechanisms in cases of violence, exploitation or abuse. In partnership with local governments, civil society organizations and other key stakeholders, we work to develop and implement policies and programs that strengthen the capacity of child protection systems, ensure a response rapid and appropriate to cases of child violence, and promote the reintegration and support of child survivors.
Parenting Skills Programs
Our parenting skills programs provide practical and educational support to parents and caregivers to help them develop positive and effective parenting practices. By providing resources, advice and training on topics such as caring communication, positive discipline, stress management and child development, we aim to strengthen family relationships, improve the well-being of children and to prevent violence and child abuse. By investing in strengthening parenting skills, we are investing in the future of our children and our communities.
Training and engagement of young local leaders
We believe in the power of young people as agents of positive change in their communities. By investing in the training and engagement of young local leaders, we create opportunities for leadership development, citizen participation and community action. Our programs provide youth with the tools and resources to identify and address local challenges, promote positive social and environmental initiatives, and inspire their peers to engage in activities that benefit the community. By supporting and empowering young local leaders, we cultivate a legacy of lasting leadership and community resilience.
Education Access Programs
Access to quality education is a fundamental right for every child. Our programs aim to overcome barriers to education by ensuring equitable access to quality education for all children, regardless of their socio-economic background or location. We build and renovate schools, provide essential school supplies, recruit and train qualified teachers, and establish scholarship programs to support disadvantaged children in their educational journey. By investing in access to education, we are investing in a future where every child has the opportunity to achieve their full potential.
Academic success support programs
Academic success is essential for children's futures. Our academic success support programs aim to help children overcome academic obstacles and succeed in school. We offer support classes, individual or small group tutoring, literacy and numeracy programs to reinforce basic skills, as well as extracurricular activities to encourage student learning and growth. By providing additional support and educational resources, we help children realize their full academic potential and open up to a bright future.
Vaccination and preventive health care campaigns
Vaccines play a vital role in protecting children's health from preventable diseases. Our regular vaccination campaigns aim to ensure adequate vaccination coverage for all children, especially those living in areas where access to health services is limited. In addition to vaccinations, we implement preventive health care programs, such as regular doctor visits, health examinations, nutrition programs and health education sessions to promote the general well-being of children and families we serve.
